Art and story – Published in National Geographic Adventure, Outside and elsewhere, Alexander “Sandy” Nesbitt's captivating photographs are narrative images as well as passionate tributes to 46 countries around the world.

Sandy's most recent images bring you to the children and volunteers of the Flying Kites orphanage in Kenya. A 90-minute drive to Nairobi but a world away from his home in Newport, RI.

Named Travel Photographer of the Year, Spirit of Adventure category, Sandy's dedication to documentary photography is at the core of his vision, a vision that captures the quirky essence of the places you've been, wanted to see, or wouldn't dare to visit.

A graduate of Pratt Institute, his images invite you to his hometown or to hike with him on Mount Kilimanjaro, kiteboard in Cuba and Brazil, ride camels, sail yachts, or just stop and savor the adventure.

With equally well-travelled gear, a working knowledge of Egyptian Arabic, German, and Spanish he's always prepared for the next place, ready to share the journey.
